Ace Aquatec, a Scotland-based aquaculture solutions company, has received a grant from Michelin Development to fuel sustainable growth, create new jobs and invest in advanced digital innovations for the aquaculture industry.

Since 2019, the company has built an award-winning portfolio of welfare-focused products and formed key partnerships in the industry. With this new funding, Ace Aquatec will expand employment opportunities in the region. It’s already creating 10 new jobs at its Dundee headquarters in 2024, where the company oversees global research and development projects, manufacturing, the coordination of engineers and distributors worldwide, and supports its offices in Chile, Canada and Norway.

“The grant from Michelin Development is supporting us with further targeted, sustainable growth by enabling us to invest in the delivery of more advanced digital data to provide insight to the fish farming community, and to create more new roles in areas including sales, operations and software development in Dundee over the next two years,” said Nathan Pyne-Carter, Chief Executive Officer at Ace Aquatec. “Access to the funding has been invaluable to us in supporting our hiring program and investment in technological innovations.”

Michelin Development supports high-potential small and medium-sized businesses in the Dundee and Angus region with services like unsecured, low-interest loans and free expert advice. Targeted at B2B manufacturing and service companies with plans to create sustainable jobs, loans of up to £100,000 (US $132,000) can also help secure additional funding from other sources.

“Ace Aquatec utilizes the latest in digital technology to support a greener, more ethical and sustainable fishing industry,” said Brian Cains, of Michelin Development in Dundee. “The team has decades of combined experience in the aquaculture industry and recognizes that being at the forefront of the blue revolution requires agility and commitment to change while being rooted in the company’s core values of quality, welfare and sustainability. It has national and international growth potential and is just the type of business we are geared up to support.”
