Two More Members Join RAF Board

Dr. Everett Barnes Jr. of RMC Research Corporation and Dr. Michael Tlusty of the New England Aquarium have joined the board of directors of the Responsible Aquaculture Foundation (RAF), the educational arm of the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA).

Barnes is president and owner of RMC Research Corporation, a private government consulting company he joined in 1972 and acquired in 1985. His areas of expertise include grant writing, program development and management, formative and summative evaluation, and online learning content development and delivery.

Barnes’ background in education is extensive, as a teacher and administrator. At the University of New Hampshire’s Bureau of Educational Research and Testing Services, he was responsible for New Hampshire’s K-12 state testing program.

Tlusty is director of ocean sustainability science at the New England Aquarium and a research faculty at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Tlusty has been at the aquarium since 1999, and his background in seafood sustainability is extensive, working on both aquaculture- and wild fisheries-related issues.

Currently, he sits on GAA’s Standards Oversight Committee, the Aquaculture Stewardship Council’s Technical Advisory Group, and the Global Seafood Sustainability Initiative’s Process and Benchmark Expert Working Group.

“Everett and Michael bring unique perspectives to the work of the Responsible Aquaculture Foundation by virtue of their vast experiences with education delivery and aquaculture research,” said RAF President Wally Stevens.

Also on the RAF board are George Chamberlain, Peder Jacobson, Iain Shone, Melanie Siggs and Stevens.
