Chile’s Nova Austral Attains BAP Certification
The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) in mid-July congratulated Nova Austral S.A. for achieving Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification.
Nova Austral’s salmon processing plant located in Porvenir, Chile — in Region XII — earned BAP certification on June 27. Nova Austral is one of Chile´s largest salmon producers, processing more than 20,000 metric tons of Atlantic salmon annually.
The product is sold primarily to retail and foodservice customers in the European Union, North America, Japan, Russia, China, Southeast Asia and Latin America. The plant produces fresh and frozen salmon in a variety of product forms, including fillets, portions, blocks, H&G and whole fish.
The BAP certification provides further recognition of the high standards already achieved by Nova Austral and reaffirms the company’s commitment to responsible salmon farming, said the company.
