BAP Certification Scheme Added To FishChoice.com
Add the Global Aquaculture Alliance to the list sustainable seafood organizations promoted by FishChoice.com, a web-based platform that helps businesses that buy and sell sustainable seafood.
A profile of GAA’s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) third-party certification scheme has been added to FishChoice.com following the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® program’s decision this year to rate BAP two-star, three-star and four-star shrimp as a “good alternative.”
Seafood Watch, Marine Stewardship Council, Aquaculture Stewardship Council, FishWatch, SeaChoice and the Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program and among the sustainable seafood programs aggregated on FishChoice.com.
FishChoice’s mission is to partner with the leading sustainable seafood organizations to create a comprehensive picture for businesses to better understand the environmental impact of their seafood. FishChoice’s platform connects retail, restaurant and institutional seafood buyers to suppliers of sustainable seafood products.
Through collaboration with non-profit organizations and industry leaders, FishChoice’s platform fosters networking opportunities to make commercial procurement of sustainable seafood products easier and offers up-to-date information to educate the industry and expand the outreach and effectiveness of the sustainable seafood movement.
Since its inception in 2008, FishChoice has amassed a sustainable seafood directory of more than 3,700 product listings from more than 400 suppliers. Suppliers that carry BAP-certified shrimp can become a FishChoice Supplier Member for free to promote their products to an audience of more than 4,000 seafood professionals.
